Batman: The Animated Series is hitting Blu-ray in 2018

Fans of Batman: The Animated Series have a reason to celebrate. The series is finally getting the remaster treatment it deserves after all these years. It’s about time.

At this weekend’s New York Comic Con Warner Bros. announced that “later in the year” in 2018, it will release the animated show to Blu-Ray.

The specifics are a bit sketchy at this point. For instance, we don’t know if the 85-episode show will come out all in one boxed set, or in volumes like the DVDs before it. Hopefully we will learn more about these details soon. However, any package will surely look and sound better than streaming the show on say, Amazon Prime. Also, every episode will most likely have the amazing opening credits sequence attached. I can’t wait to see how good it looks actually.

As fans know, this summer Warner released Batman: Mask of the Phantasm on Blu-ray, which takes place in the Animated Series universe, so animated Batman seems like a priority for them right now. We still have to wait until 2018, but at least we know it’s coming. Hopefully it will be a boxed set so we don’t have to wait for all of the episodes to get released.
